Dr. Gene Williams, PhD
Director of Evangelism and Apologetics, Co-Founder of Defend the Word Ministries
From my time as a U.S. Marine to the mission field as an ordained Christian minister, my journey has been one of transformation through faith in Jesus Christ. At the age of 28, God answered my call, and my life changed forever.
Since then, I’ve had the privilege of preaching the gospel across the United States and internationally in Mexico, Canada, Europe, Africa, and Asia. To deepen my understanding of ministry, I pursued a certificate in Scientific Apologetics from the Reason Institute, a B.A. in Theology from Jacksonville Theological Seminary, an M.A. in Biblical Counseling, and a Ph.D. in Christian Philosophy and Apologetics from Trinity Theological Seminary. I also have an A.A. in Business Administration and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, which led to the founding of CG Mechanical, LLC. However, my greatest passion lies in leading others to salvation and helping believers grow in faith through Theology and Apologetics.
Currently, I serve as the Male Ministry Leader at NorthPointe Church’s Celebrate Recovery program, co-lead a Bible study called Convergence with my wife, and work with organizations like Reasons to Believe and Ratio Christi. In addition to ministry, I’m an IBJJF Certified 1st-degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and a certified catch wrestler.
Apologetics is dear to me because I’ve been through my own journey of doubt and discovery. My passion is to share the Good News of Jesus Christ and strengthen the faith of others through sound theological reasoning.
May God be honored and praised in all things.

Christi Williams, M.A.E.
Women's Ministry Leader, Co-Founder of Defend the Word Ministries
I am an ordained Christian Minister, faithfully serving as the Women's Ministry Leader at Defend the Word Ministries. As the wife of Gene Williams and co-founder of our ministry, my life has been dedicated to spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ.
From my earliest memories, I have been a believer in Jesus Christ. Though my journey has had its struggles, God’s grace and forgiveness have always guided me back to His loving embrace. Raised in the Southern Baptist tradition, I eventually strayed due to life's challenges, only to rediscover Jesus in a deeper and more personal way. The God I was raised to fear revealed Himself to me as a gracious and patient Father, waiting for my return.
Education is a passion of mine, and I hold a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of West Georgia, along with a certificate in Scientific Apologetics from Reason Institute. My support for organizations like the Society for the Advancement of Christian Education (SACE) and the International Society of Women in Apologetics reflects my commitment to both faith and learning.
My husband and I have served in various leadership roles, including Celebrate Recovery at NorthPointe Church, where we were involved in The Landing, a teens program that brought us immense joy. Together, we co-lead a Bible study group called Convergence, and I look forward to continuing to lead and minister in areas that are in need. In our Celebrate Recovery ministry, I currently serve as the Encourager Coach ("E"), fostering a positive, supportive atmosphere where individuals can find healing and hope.
Initially, my husband’s involvement in apologetics startled me, as it challenged the belief system I was raised with. However, this new understanding of the Word was exactly what I needed to strengthen my faith. It became clear that we were called to help others defend the Word of Jesus.
In my life, I have often advised friends with the words of Jesus to His disciples: "Be Still." Ultimately, I took my own advice and found peace, awakening to the true purpose God had for me all along. I pray peace and blessings to all.
May God be Honored and Praised.
